I found this beautiful box at Michael's the other day. They had so so many, it was hard to decide. I think I may save my 40% off coupons and buy a few more. I love the colors on this one and may use it as an inspiration piece to repaint out Master bedroom. It has that pretty light robin blue egg color in it...I just love that...hard to see it here, but I was thinking I could paint the walls a tannish neutral color and pick that blue/green up in my bedspread and curtains. We have a rose rug like the rose color already...I'd like to replace it, but HB doesn't want to...sigh.
Then, I found that scissor/paper cutter set for just $10. The paper cutter works great and I can always use new scissors. I bought a book called,,, Fanciful Paper Projects. If you haven't seen it, look at it on Amazon. It is sooooooooooooo cute! Full of wonderful ideas and I can't wait to try some out. I want to make one of the paper dolls in it, but use my own materials. I don't know about you, but I love to make something my own. I don't like doing exactly what they tell you in a book. I like to make it mine, otherwise it's just a copy of someone else's art. No fun!!!
BTW, still don't have a car! Maybe tomorrow, and I think it will end up being the Toyota Prius. Hoping it's red or silver! Of course I LOVE PINK...can you tell....but they don't make PINK ones...:((

Betzie, I bought this same box and another one very similar a few days ago at Ross! I'm using them in the studio to keep supplies on my worktable. I'll have to take a look at that book. It's one I haven't seen.

Thanks for your nice comment on my blog and in answer to your question, yes I painted the mantle just one coat to let the wood shine through a bit and to give it a shabby touch, I don't wanted it to look to perfect.

I have never followed any directions or even looked in any of those instruction books. I like to figure things out on my own and come up with my own ideas as well.
