Vintage E-P-H-E-M-E-R-A

I hope I spelled it right..I always spell EPHEMERA wrong...so I hope that is correct. I'll have to do spellcheck to make sure later. Not sure what it is with me and that word, but I do love, love, LOVE vintage papers.
Lori mentioned it was the topic for "Show and Tell Sunday" today, and I so enjoyed seeing hers, I grabbed my camera.

May I introduce you to "Gretel"?

She sits on top an old cedar chest that belonged to my grandparents and keeps guard over my most precious papers.

This treasure chest is magic to me. It holds papers that were touched by my grandparents and my parents when they were young.

A scrapbook that my mom made all about her engagement, WW11, her marriage, and her babies. Her memories and her most precious keepsakes make up this book.

An old newspaper clipping announcing her engagement...

One of many wedding cards she kept....

Here she is again with my dad and my grandmom..I love my dad in this uniform...they all look so happy don't they?

Letters from my dad during the war...

So many cards from my dad too...I just love this one.

Look at this...her receipt from the hospital after having my brother Tim!

And all the baby cards she received to celebrate our birth...

The back is falling off now, the pages have turned yellow with age, but her love still binds it altogether and I cherish it more than any other book I own.

This is the best kind of ephemera....the personal kind. It reminded me that I have some things like this, too. They're hidden away someplace and now I'll have to find them. And they're probably in one of those closets that I stuff everything into so if I don't surface in a few days come looking for me!!

Betzie, Your treasured ephemera is mose precious then gold and wonderful to keep. I also have an album that my mother kept every letter my dad wrote during the war. It is amazing and I keep it also in her cherished cedar chest at the foot of our bed.
I love your gorgeous doll watching over your keepsakes. Perfect and so pretty!
Sure enjoyed your post!
Blessings, Celestina

What wonderful personal ephemera. And we must be about the same age.
