Pink Saturday Bears

Happy Pink Saturday!

I used to make teddy bears when my sons were little and thought I'd share two today for

Pink Saturday. This one was a burgundy and pink mohair bear. The ornament is one from my

childhood...I just love it...pink with a handpainted blue bird. My dad would always go out and

get the tree and my mom and I would decorate it.

Every year my mom would choose a different theme for the tree, so this little

ornament reminds me of our Bird Tree. I still have many of the old ornaments from it.

This guy is one of my favorites. I loved making him. I embroidered his patchwork and added the date to his foot...1995. Not one I wanted to sell or give away...he will hopefully find his way to a future grandchild someday.

Enjoy visiting all the Pink Saturday participants and thanks to Beverly

for hosting at How Sweet The Sound.

Oh Betzie I had no idea you used to make bears. They are priceless, each with their own expressions and uniquiness. I love the patchwork bear. What a talented and wonderful gift of love. I also love the fact that your mother choose a theme each year to decorate with. What fun that must have been, Happy Pink Saturday, Char

Hi Betzie! Thank you for coming to the tea party for a visit, it was so nice to meet you. Your blog is wonderful and I love your red bear, I'm more a collector than a maker....I did try my hand at making a few but they were nothing to really look at, I'll leave that up to all of you artists! Have a nice weekend! Hugs, Jennifer

Thank you so much for visiting me at my Bunny Cottage today. I love to have company! If you will go to my profile page, you will see my e-mail. If you will e-mail me, I can give you the e-bay address of the artist who painted my shelf. She goes by "4wits-end" on e-bay. Vicki

What sweet bears! Your little bird ornament is beautiful. My Mom always used to decorate the tree too. Why is it the Dads always disappear once the tree is in the stand! Happy Pink Saturday!

Hello Betzie!

How are you?

The bears are very pretty and extra special cause they're handmade. And I agree, the one with the date is something to be passed on only :-) See, I know I only know you from blogs but I'm excited by the thought of you passing the little bear to your future grandchild :-) I think it sweet and so so special. Is it something in the near future? :-)

I think a christmas tree is one decor and tradition that I can share with. Santa Claus and drinking eggnogs are not really practiced in my side here. But putting up a christmas tree, I sure can relate. I feel like eventhough there's not much other christmas decor in the house for as long as there is a christmas tree, big or small, to share with :-)

Mizpah,
Li

Beautiful bears. I have always loved teddy bears. When I was young, I didn't play with dolls, but I had about 15 teddy bears that would sit down to pretend tea parties with me. They were all related to eachother, in my mind...cousins, brothers, sisters. I even had a giant blue Panda teddy bear who was the Daddy to all...his name was Mr. Pops!
The teddy bears you made are fabulous and such a keepsake.

I really like the patchwork bear, I can see why you would want to keep him. I collected bears for awhile back when I worked, my favorite is a purple one our daughter Lynn bought for one of my birthdays.
