First, I want to thank everyone that commented on my last post and for all your sweet Anniversary wishes!!! I hope to get around to visit y'all soon, just have been trying to catch up on laundry and unpacking. Don't you hate to unpack after a trip?
Hubby and I had such a good time this past weekend in Williamsburg, VA, and now I am just on this Colonial kick. I want more of a Colonial look to our home...it is already Colonial on the outside, but the inside is just a little of this and a little of that...let's see, Victorian, Queen Anne style, country, primitive, and shabby chic. My problem is I love all those styles. I've always thought I was more primitive at heart...loving folkart like I do...but if I just did primitive, I'd miss so many other things...plus we don't live in an old farmhouse. Not that I'd mind if we did. Here's a photo of our home.
So you can see it has a Colonial front...
Anyway, back to this past weekend and why I'm in a Colonial mood.
Just want to share a few of my pics...won't bore you with too many, I promise!

The marching of the drum and fife players....

My hubby in front of a picket fence and garden. All the tulips and spring flowers and trees were blooming away...

Frompy me....I really don't like getting my pic taken any more!!!

These trees were so amazing against the blue sky. I asked about them and they are sycamore trees that have been kept pruned. They did this in Colonial times as well...I could have just taken photo after photo of the trees there...their interesting barks, their gnarled branches, their huge trunks...

This is the Governor's Palace....just LOVED this tour and the history was fascinating...funny how boring it was to me when I went there in my twenties...LOL

When you walk into the foyer of the palace there is an open room to the right and left...rooms the servants used to store things. These birdcages caught my eye!

This is Queen Charlotte who was married to the Govenor at the time...Lord Dunmore. She just was so so captivating...overlooking the gorgeous Ballroom, where all the dancing took place.
That is the true color of the room. The one next to it is LIME GREEN...they loved bright bright colors.

These poor sheep....they were so hot, we had record breaking temps there over the weekend! Can you imagine wearing all of this WOOL?? I hope they shear them soon.

Of course Ken had to take my pic in this lovely position...I will say, it's a great place to visit, but I sure am glad I didn't live during that time!!!

Now Ken loved the artillary and the serenity of the gardens, while I loved the Folk Art museum and shopping!!!!
Here are some of the shots I took in the museum...

The dollhouses were so incredible. There was also one of Tasha Tudor's dollhouse, but my photo was too dark.

I was fascinated by this fabulous POT!!! It is so much like the altered art stuff we make today!A memory pot!!! Isn't this the neatest thing???

Gorgeous sketch of a horse....in a calligraphy style...
These folkart paintings really speak to me too. I have one like it in my living room, just a print, but I love it.Saw lots of other things, but I better stop now...this is probably my longest post ever.
Will share some of my colonial decorating now and then...Williamsburg was great inspiration and
go there if you haven't already! You'll love it.

It was wonderful seeing the pictures of your fun weekend in Williamsburg. I thought the teapot was neat too! I love your home. The landscaping is gorgeous. It's wonderful to visit your blog.
The "memory pot" is sometimes called "tramp art". Items like those catch big bucks on ebay!
I'll let you know if I find my frosting recipe. In fact, you'll most likely be able to hear me all the way to your place from upper Michigan!
Hi Betzie, Your trip looks fabulous. I want to wish you a belated Happy Anniversary. I tried to stop by and read that post, went to comment and everything disappeared. It was the same day you wrote it. You may have been in the middle of posting, but that was so strange. LOL
Anyway, it looks like you had a marvelous time and your pictures are wonderful. You and your dh look so cute and the weather looks to be very nice. I love that memory pot. Time repeats itself I guess.
Glad you had a great time and all good wishes for many more wonderful years together.
Did you notice your Beazy keychain on my sidebar? Miss B feels very popular. LOL~~ I use the keychain everyday and feel like my sweet girl is with me when I am away.
Hugs and good luck in my giveaway.
