change,art,an old book

Do you like the new blogger editing system? I'm just not so sure...It is a bit overwhelming for me. I tried it last night and got frustrated with what was what. I guess I'm not so good with change these days. Are you good with change?

Not much we can do about it though so best to accept and move on. That said if you come here and my blog is upside down and the text looks weird, it's just me....trying to figure things out!!! Do come back and look again... I'm at the beginning of the learning curve though so bear with me!!

Do you have Firefox? Wow, now they have all these new and improved things you can do too...
I mean do I need to spend hours just making my home page look creative???

Isn't it a good thing that Mozart and Monet didn't have a computer???

But change is a good thing too...not complaining.
I just don't always like it.

Am I sounding like Mickey Rooney??? LOL

Now why is it when I just pressed enter, I went backwards instead of forwards??!!
So what to share today....this sure has been a boring post. LOL

I know , I will share a book with you that made me stop in my tracks a few months ago.
I found it on Ruby Lane....my favorite online antique store. Very pricey, BUT now and then you can find a treasure that is very very reasonable. This is one of those....

It's an old journal....a sketchbook....a book written by hand....when there were no computers...no TV's....no typewriters....no IPODS....no IPADS.... no cell phones or texting....nothing...BUT thankfully there were pencils and paper and this person's talent and imagination

I just love holding it. Feeling the energy from it....knowing someone put their heart and soul into it.
Okay, enough words....I will just show you the photos now and be quiet. I hope you can get a glimpse of the life this book held....

Lots of religious writings...language? Lovely script
Old worn cover- amazing it was still with the book

Was this personal or was he/she writing a story?

Pages of their class schedule....so most likely a student
"curious triflings which lead more to rebellion than to worship"

Now a few of my favorite pages....the artwork!!!

I love this tree!
Lots of outdoor nature sketches....
Can you see the details in this drawing?

This one is my favorite....isn't she wonderful?

Wouldn't this student be surprised to see his/her work on someone's blog more than a hundred years later?
Change, progress...inevitable....but appreciation of art and an old journal....a moment in time...priceless.
I love that art is ageless...

Oh my goodness, Betzie--whatever you paid for it, it was worth it. I'm waiting for my son to fool around with my blog. I'm afraid to touch it. It probably won't be until November, though--oh well--I'm still not touching it. I really like what you've done with yours so far, though!

Yea! I am finally able to post to you, Betzie. I'm not sure what was going on, but I literally could not post to you before. I think my virus control was acting up because it got the point that it wouldn't even let me go online. But I can post now. YEA!
I finally took the computer in, and they found out I had dual virus control that was acting against itself. Go figure! So I'm in business.

And that book is SO neat. Love the drawings. You're right, I bet the student would be amazed.

XO,

Sheila :-)

Betzie I use Firefox but it absolutely refuses to let me post to your blog. I also have Safari and that is letting me post today but the last time I tried to post I couldn't. So just so you know I am not ignoring you.

Hey that journal is a very special find indeed and a slice of someone's life. And as you say, the owner could never in a million years have imagined how it would be finally viewed via cyber space.

Glad to see you back and I'm loving your blog layout.

Hello Betzie,

YOu've been gone a while . . .

I love handwritten notes . . letters . . .and in this case, a journal. I'm not sure if you happen to be by when I posted about handwriten letters form friends. Anyway, will you look at that penmanship! Mine's like squiggles LOL

Nice to see you back :-)

Mizpah,
Li

(I hope my comment goes through this time. I have been having trouble commenting on some Blogger-hosted blogs. I guess due to some changes and updating the Blogger is doing. I hope it'll be ok soon :-) )

I know exactly what you mean about blogger! I do like how they made adding images much easier though! That journal is absolutely amazing. A true step back into history!

Hugs,
Jacalyn

Houston we have a problem!
Betzie~Firefox wouldn't let me leave a comment, after several attempts I was able to come in through Google Chrome.
I missed chatting with you. I'm still not sure why I can't come in as I have been.
Well, now that I am...You've got quite a history in your collection.
WOW! The conversation we would have with those who treasures we've come to inherit.
We were fortunate to inherit many of my FIL's ledgers. Seeing his handwriting reminds me of the hours he spent in his study writing away.

I don't do well with change (at all)!
I go kicking and screaming, especially into the *change of life*! Hot Flashes = rotisserie!!

We finally got some real sunshine, so We're relishing every minute.

Sweet wishes,
Sara

Hi, Betzie... I'm stopping back by from my blog break to say, "Hi," but it looks like you're not at home either. LOL! I will hopefully be back in the saddle in September. When will you be back? And I'm very slow to change. Very slow. Particularly where technology is concerned. LOL!

Big hugs...

XO,

Sheila :-)

HI Betzie,
Oh I have missed you and so funny that you thought about me today as I have been doing the same. We must have been thinking at the same time.

I love the journal you found on Ruby Lane. What talented person this was. The drawings are incredible. To think you have this to enjoy and be the care giver. Truly it is with the right person that will appreciate the value of such an amazing piece.

I did not like the blogger editing at first either, but figured it out eventually. I love your blog look and the pretty header.

I know you have been busy and it was so special to see you tonight. Thank you for stopping by. I hope to be back on a better blogging schedule now that Fall is upon us.
Still triple digit temps for us though. I wish the thermometer knew another number other then 100+. LOL
Hugs and blessings to you sweetie.
Celestina Marie
