Queens

I am being a party pooper tonight. My husband is a college professor and tonight was the welcome back party. I usually go, but I just wasn't in the mood. Then I feel guilty when I don't go...but sometimes I can do without small talk and being the homebody that I am...well here I am.

So I will come visit you all and share two more little witches I've made the last week. I guess they would rather me call them "Queens" though.

At ZNE, I joined the doll group, and our assignment this month was to make a Queen of ZNE doll. I used to love to sew and made some dolls, but I am so into paper these days that I made her out of paper instead and other tidbits. Her body came from a torso collage sheet from Shabby Cottage Studio.

Her head is a photo of a doll who's face I just love...

She was quite the contrarian. She insisted on earrings, and would only accept dangling ones.

She also didn't like orange on her socks, had to be pink and only pink.

Then, I wanted her to be a modest Queen, but no, she had to proclaim to the world that she is indeed a "TRUE ARTISTE"...I told her I was sorry, I did not have the word "ARTISTE", so "artist" would just have to do. Then her crown also reads "BE BOLD"...I like that about her.

I wasn't big on her spiderweb skirt either, being that it was gold and everything else she was wearing was silver, but she liked combining the two, so okay, fine with me. She did luck out as the spider was PINK and not black...other than it's few spots.

Rhinestones were not good enough, only Swarovski would do, so I let her have some on her necklace, purse and earrings. Her eyeglasses also glitter a tad too in person...in fact I'm getting new glasses next week and I suppose I will have to copy her pair and make mine glitter as well. I do think she has good taste.

Anyway....she's done and although she is a bit bitchy...oppps I mean witchy, I think she looks and acts like quite the QUEEN ARTISTE...what do you think?

Next is my Faerie Witch who is much more quiet and let me make all the decisions.

Again I started with a torso from the collage sheet and then gave her a skirt and shoes I found from an old Halloween decoration. I added diamond glaze over her shoes so they look like patent leather and sparkled her up with orange glitter and orange wings.

Love the Halloween papers out this year. My favorite place to buy them and other decorative cardstock is here:

Had to finish off the back of her just a smidge too...

thanks for putting up with these Queens tonight and me too!!

I went on the ZNE site you talked about, hoping to see something about the dolls you mentioned but I could not find anything about them???? If you still have my email will you contact me with some info? Thanks, even if you altered your little Queens they are as cute as can be.

I'm playing catch up from my week away and WOW!! You have been busy again. Your queens are wonderful. I especially like the first one....maybe because she's so bold and knows just exactly what she wants.

The one thing I love about blogging is the many people that you meet....I hope you don't mind Betzie but I added you to my favorites....I only wish I could meet and work with some of the artists that I have met on the blog....two of my favorite are One Crabtree and Baumcat....I am so fascinated by paper art, and always plan to try it, but I seem to get side tracked with something else....Your work is beautiful, even if it's a witch....LOL....I'm reading Wicked right now, and it is quite fun to read....now that you are on my favorites I will be back to say hi..... judy
