Okay, I have finally decided on a name for my ruby girl. Thanks so much to all who offered a name and tried to help me. I really appreciate it!
I think names are important. I know some names remind us of other people. Like a few times when I was teaching Kindergarten and First/Second grades, it seemed I had quite a few "Michaels" that were little characters...the ones you don't forget! I decided right there and then, to never name my sons "Michael". LOL
Then, my husband nicknamed me "Betzie" when my real name is "Betty"...I never felt like a "Betty", but "Betzie" just felt right so that's what I became at the age of 16(when we first met).
In Sunday school when I was growing up, they called me, "Betty Lou"(short for my middle name Louise after my grandmother). I hated that name with a passion!!!! But you know I have a close friend that still calls me that, and I love it. I call her "Margie Sue" and we always laugh about our silly names.
So I tend to put a lot of thought in names and in naming my pets. Can you tell?
My "Lacey" is so delicate and refined like an old piece of lace.
My "Romeo" is a lover for sure and I've never known a dog to be more loyal.
My "Angel" is just that...always a good girl and never needs scolding.
I loved so many of the names you all suggested, but none quite fit.
Marie, I love "Rosette" but her mom's name is "Rose" and it's just too close to that. This is my Champion Rose, her mom...

No, none of the names ending with "ette" were right...
"Gigi" and "Fifi" are very very cute and "Gigi" was considered, but nope, my sons wouldn't have that one...LOL
Celeste, I love your name!!! It's different and beautiful and fits you so perfectly, but it's saved just for you and you alone.
Louise, I so loved the names you came up with and because you came up with one I ALMOST used, I am going to send you some soaps...please send me your address so I can get them out to you. The one I really loved was "Zara"...I even tried it on her, but sadly, she didn't respond. She is a "Princess" though for sure. I like "Joelle" too, but I know I'd end up calling her "Jo" most of the time and "Jo" rhymes with "NO"! LOL Still, I will keep "Zara" for another time.
Sooooo, I ended up calling her a name that I've always loved....I taught a little girl many years ago with the most beautiful face you could ever imagine. I know she must have turned into a beauty...and her name was "Emma"...so since my little ruby has such a beautiful face, I thought of sweet Emma and since she was born in the month of May...I decided she'll be called
EMMA MAE
Remember Auntie "Em" from the Wizard of Oz?? Who could forget that name, so little "Em" is my ruby's name, and do you know the very first time I called her that, she came right to me!?!

No, not French, but it sure fits, and I guess she's just a SOUTHERN GIRL at HEART!

Emma is a beautiful name. My cousin has a granddaughter named Emma. I agree with you that often we associate certain traits with a name. There is still one name from my school days that I associate with someone not very nice! I've never liked that name (won't say what it is in case someone might have it!!)
All your dogs are so cute and I can almost see their individual personalities shining through.
Good choice and it seems that Emma Mae thought it was a good choice too. Yes you are totally right; names are important. Even in blogland. Some people are hard to find as their name cannot be googled succesfully.
Oh my gosh Emma is so beautiful! What a fitting name for her.
I also adore the rest of your adorable Cavalier family!!! I have a tri-colour, like Romeo, only mine has a far more silly name in Ernie. We call him Ernest when we are being serious with him, LOL!
I don't need to tell you how wonderful Cavalier King Charles Spaniels are, you know it far better than I do!
I am happy you liked one of my names…
I have lists and lists of names so when anyone needs one I always have
some to share.
I do love the name you picked.
My granddaughter’s name is Emmalyn and everyone calls her
Emma but me, I call her Em….and every time I say it I smile.
Wow, what a wonderful group of dogs you have, I did not realize you had so many.
I hope you keep showing us pictures of little Emma Mae so we can watch her grow up to
be little beauty.

Beautiful family! :-) And aaawwww Emma. Well, who can argue with that, when you call her by that name and she responds. It is a lovely name, Betzie.

I think these are all wonderful names. Names are very important.
It always makes me think of Anne of Green Gables. She said, "that a Rose could never be called by any other name."
Your dogs are lovely, Happy
Summer, Mary
I have not been blogging since honey is in the hospital but I just had to catch up with a few, so glad I came by I loved all the pictures of your "family". Even the bible talks about how important
names are, Emma does seem to fit your little one so well.Good choice
Hi Betzie, Oh I love the name Emma Mae. It fits her perfectly. What a little darling. I could just hug and kiss her little face off. LOL
Great choice!!
Sweet hugs to Em~~~
XOXO Celestina Marie
Uhm, I just noticed - you've got lots of those dogs. I think you should give one to me because I would love it and cuddle it and put it in a purse and take it with me and kiss it and dress it up and let it sleep under the covers.
Deal?
